You may carry one hand luggage that meets the following features:
- Type: Bag or backpack
- Quantity: 1 per person
- Weight: Maximum 08kg / 17.64lb
- Maximum size: 62 in / 157 cm (height + length + width)
Our train services have a luggage coach, which allows you to take the following:
- Type: Carry-on or suitcase
- Quantity: Up to 2 per person
- Weight: A total of 23 kg / 50.6 lb
- Maximum size: Your choice within the weight limit indicated
What type of luggage should I carry?
Destination: Machu Picchu
On your journey to Machu Picchu, you may take the following hand luggage: one bag or backpack weighing up to 08kg / 17.64lb, measuring a total of 62 in / 157 cm (height + length + width).
This applies to the following train services:
- PeruRail Expedition
- PeruRail Vistadome
- PeruRail Vistadome Observatory
- Hiram Bingham, A Belmond Train
Note: Please respect these conditions to prevent blocking train exits, which is prohibited by law.
Destination: Puno, Cusco or Arequipa
On your travels to Cusco, Puno, or Arequipa you may take hold luggage: up to 2 suitcases which in total weigh 23 kg / 50.6 lb. However, please remember that luggage permitted in the train coach must not exceed 08kg / 17.64lb per passenger.

Route: Inca Trail
Passengers who plan to walk the short route of the Inca Trail can apply to our Flexible Exception Policy for Luggage on Board (only on the route to Machu Picchu, not for the return journey) by showing their UGM permit (Unidad de Gestión Municipal) and writing to equipaje@perurail.com within 48 hours prior to your train journey (subject to space availability).

Luggage Storage at the Train Stations:
PeruRail has a free storage service for passengers at the following stations:
- Ollantaytambo Station: 4:15 pm to 9 pm.
- Machu Picchu Station: 8 am to 10 pm
FAQ
Weapons, munitions, explosives and flammable substances or any object that might pose a risk to the passenger, staff and/or freight, among others detailed in that section.

Yes, but each passenger is responsible for safeguarding them during the journey (cash, jewelry, documents, electronic equipment, etc.). We suggest not to leave valuable or fragile objects in your luggage in storage (if it applies to your train ticket), since PeruRail will not be held responsible for the loss or damage of any object of value.
PeruRail reserves the right to remove any type of object and/or luggage that blocks the train exits or that it considers might affect other passengers or the journey.
There is no cost. Simply, luggage that does not comply with the established conditions shall not be allowed.
